Here's a great product: speakers in the shape of little plastic crates (like the kind you would use to carry a bunch of bottles), or Speakerkratjes, as they say in the Netherlands. This custom speaker promo was great because the item was loved by their target demographic, reinforced their other music-oriented promotions and worked as either computer speakers (connecting via USB) or MP3 player speakers, using a 1/8" jack.

Heineken Speaker Crates Make Big Splash
art speakers
Not sure I could ever call speakers sexy - whatever cranks your dial I guess - but many of the speakers featured in this rant definitely wouldnt look out of place in an art gallery… and given the price tag thats probably the only place I’ll ever see or hear them, take these for example:
a new generation of high-quality ceramic speakers
Ancient Rome used terracotta pots to beef up sound in amphitheatres more than 2,000 years ago. Inspired by this fact, Philips designers created a new generation of high-quality ceramic speakers that were at once decorative, functional, and symbolic. But feedback from analysts and research groups showed that the market wasn't ready for such a radical change in thinking -- and hearing.

Speaker Dress remains concept
Designer Teresa Almeida has rendered an image of her imagination, resulting in a belt and handbag that comes complete with speakers. Both fashion items use sound as an object, amplifying moods by the use of space. Uh huh, try selling that idea to the non-poetic, artsy-fartsy type who prefer to call a spade a spade. According to Teresa, the handbag “helps managing feelings of frustration – of communication, misunderstanding or alienation” while the belt “deals with attention - it is a portable wearable accessory that interacts with the environment by detecting physical proximity and movement.” Right.

Cygnett Unison I-X5 iPod / MP3 Speaker System

iBoogie Speaker Grooves To Your Tunes
Here's a speaker that has a heart for the type of music you play - it comes with an array of LEDs which light up, showing off the form of a stick figure who dances along to the current tune you're playing, and is compatible with virtually any device that uses the standard 3.5mm headphone jack. The stick figure won't set jaws dropping anytime soon, but it sure is an interesting proposition to look at especially when you have all the lights turned off. The iBoogie is powered by a trio of AA batteries and will retail for $19.95.

Brooch Speaker Concept
The Brooch speaker concept is wildly different from what we're used to, mainly because it lacks any integrated soundboard. All you need to do is bring it to a social function, use the specially designed suction cup and attach it to virtually any smooth, flat surface. You will be able to experiment with the audio emitted as various surfaces will release different tones, so it might take some time before you get it just right. All music controls will be projected onto the surface the Brooch is attached to in a simulated touch screen manner. Sounds too futuristic to be true at this point in time.
